In this episode of Conversations With Elders, Lucille Greeff speaks to Anne Gillis about the Enneagram and understanding addiction.

Anne started her work life in the tourism industry on PEI and loved it. In her ‘big person’ job she worked with the Federal Government in coaching in the area of career counselling, staff training and middle management leadership learning. She moved on to work with people from across the country on a number of national programs in both operational and ‘soft skill’ related disciplines. For the last eight years of her ‘formal’ career she worked in supporting middle managers’ learning how to work with their staff – what is often called ‘soft skills’. In the early and later years of her work life she has been involved in the tourism industry and still loves that ‘face-to-face’ contact with visitors.

Anne Gillis is an avid student of Personality Systems and is certified in the Enneagram, Myers Briggs Type Indicator® and Insights Discovery® systems. She discovered the Enneagram in 1990 and has found it most helpful in living her daily life. She is curious about ‘What makes us tick’? Are we aware of our compulsions and the things that can trip us up? Do we know what our strengths are and how to use them so that we can live with ourselves and others successfully? She remains curious how this works in her own life and enjoys sharing the highs and lows of this journey with others and how we can choose and create the life we want.

Anne has been a member of the Al-Anon program for over thirty years. She attempts to view life through both the Enneagram and Twelve Step lens on a daily basis. When ‘compulsions’ (addictions) show up (daily), both the Enneagram and Twelve Step program offer guidance to a healthy way of living.
